Joachim Oepkes is a multi-media artist and fine art photographer. Known for his narrative-driven portraiture, he has also constructed large scale multi-media assemblages. For the 2017 Contact 2017, his works explore a new direction. In this exhibit, audaciously entitled Atemporal, the images evoke texture, surface, and colour – within the timeless form of abstraction.
Several of his art works are collected by Gallery Arcturus, a Canadian private art foundation in Toronto. He has participated in group exhibitions at Gallery 44, The Gladstone Hotel, Sheridan College, OCAD, The Annex Art Centre and Gallery Arcturus. Solo exhibits include The Annex Art Centre and Gallery Arcturus.
As well as being an independent artist, Joachim Oepkes has had a long career as a renowned art teacher at Sheridan College (1987-2014).
